Astrud Gilberto, ícone da Bossa Nova, morreu na noite dessa segunda-feira (5/6), aos 83 anos. A notícia foi dada pela neta da artista, Sofia Gilberto, nas redes sociais na madrugada desta terça-feira (6/6). A causa do falecimento não foi divulgada.
“Minha vovó Astrud Gilberto fez essa música pra mim, se chama Linda Sofia. Inclusive, ela queria que meu nome fosse Linda Sofia. A vida é linda, como diz a música, mas venho trazer a triste notícia que minha avó virou estrela hoje e está ao lado do meu avô João Gilberto. Astrud foi a verdadeira garota que levou a bossa nova de Ipanema para o mundo. Foi a pioneira e a melhor”, começou Sofia no texto.
“Aos 22 anos, deu voz à versão em inglês de ‘Garota de Ipanema’ e ganhou fama internacional. A música, um hino da bossa nova, se consagrou como a segunda mais tocada em todo o mundo principalmente por sua causa. Amo e amarei Astrud eternamente e ela foi o rosto e a voz da bossa nova na maior parte do planeta. Astrud estará para sempre em nossos corações e neste momento temos que celebrar Astrud”, finalizou.
Nascida em Salvador (BA), Astrud foi casada com o “pai da bossa nova”, João Gilberto, com quem teve um filho, o músico João Marcelo Gilberto, pai de Sofia.
Em 1960, Astrud engata na carreira musical e, em 1963, se muda com João para os Estados Unidos. Naquele ano, ela participa do lendário álbum Getz/Gilberto, uma parceria de João com o saxofonista Stan Getz, com arranjos de Tom Jobim. No ano seguinte, ela e João se separam.
Em 1965, ela lança o seu primeiro álbum solo e nunca mais parou, com 18 álbuns de 1965 a 2003, quando sai The Diva Series, nos mais diversos idiomas, como inglês, espanhol, francês, italiano e alemão.
