A pulsoterapia consiste na administração de altas doses de corticóide por via endovenosa por um curto período, sendo amplamente utilizado no tratamento de diversas doenças autoimunes.
De acordo com a médica reumatologista, Dra. Ana Rivia Jovino, o ambulatório foi um grande ganho para a população que necessita dessa assistência. “Com esse esquema de hospital-dia, no qual teremos médicos uma vez por semana, nossos pacientes poderão passar pela consulta e rapidamente receber a infusão da medicação e ir para a casa no mesmo dia. O tempo é imprescindível para melhora funcional e orgânica do paciente”, conta.
Antes, os pacientes de Sobral e municípios vizinhos que precisavam da pulsoterapia teriam que entrar na fila de espera do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) e aguardar a liberação de um leito de internação para receber a administração do medicamento. Casos de urgência eram transferidos para Fortaleza.
