O técnico do Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Christophe Galtier, e seu filho John Valovic-Galtier foram detidos para depor nesta sexta-feira (30) como parte de uma investigação por suspeitas de discriminação após acusações de racismo, informou o Ministério Público à AFP.
Os dois estão sob custódia policial em Nice (sudeste da França), anunciou o promotor Xavier Bonhomme.
Galtier, de 56 anos, virou alvo de uma investigação em abril após um jornalista independente divulgar uma alegada troca de e-mails em que um ex-dirigente do Nice – time comandado pelo técnico antes de assumir o PSG – atribui ao treinador a seguinte frase: “não pode ter tantos negros e muçulmanos no time”.
Galtier, ainda segundo esse ex-dirigente, também teria dito que “o elenco não correspondia ao tipo de gente da cidade”.
O técnico do PSG não reconheceu as afirmações, negou as acusações, e apresentou uma queixa por difamação contra os jornalistas e o ex-dirigente.
A detenção de Galtier acontece poucos dias antes do anúncio de seu sucessor como técnico do PSG. O espanhol Luis Enrique Martínez é considerado o favorito para assumir o cargo.
Apesar de ter conquistado o título de campeão da França com o PSG, Galtier foi informado no início de junho que não continuaria à frente do clube, apesar de ter contrato até 30 de junho de 2024.
